Set in a not-so distant future, Earth’s energy has been ripping apart the cosmos. An alien with an obsession for Earth’s courtroom dramas has begged the intergalactic committee for a chance to help Earthlings save themselves in the best way they know how (que the Law & Order intro music). Audience members are invited to take on the role of jury, judge, and sign up as a witness if they feel moved to share their own stories. There are passive ways to play a courtroom role, so no worries about being forced into a particular kind of audience engagement!
Inspired by their time at Abolition School, The Untitled Court Show is fueled by swirling galaxy-like questions and curiosities: In the start of the new world, what should we carry into the next? What would we see if we held our world at a distance? Is it possible to change people’s minds, and even then, how do we repair? How can we guide people who are in alignment with their own oppression? How can we make a case that transformation is possible (and necessary)? What is required for us to face the fear and discomfort of a new world? This show will investigate topics around safety and justice. This show has been crafted by community voices and is partially supported by the Leeway Foundation.
Cannonball is the largest hub of the Philadelphia Fringe Festival, championing a revolutionary artist-led model that prioritizes equity, experimentation, and community connection. Now in its sixth year, Cannonball presents more than 100 artists across five stages, representing nearly 30 percent of the overall Philadelphia Fringe Festival. From rebellious circus and delicious dance to fearless theater and activist art, Cannonball pushes the boundaries of live performance while creating a vibrant, artist-centered ecosystem for independent performance makers and adventurous audiences alike.

About the Artist
Rachel O’Hanlon-Rodrigues (they/she/he/we/us) is a multidisciplinary performance-based artist, organizer, trauma informed facilitator, non-profit whiz, and lil guy living with C-PTSD. Their work explores generational cycles, borders, and sovereignty through historic inquiry, poetry, and comedy. Rachel’s creative and teaching work draws from trauma informed care, transformative healing justice, decolonization and abolition. Her poetry has been published in the Philadelphia Inquirer (2023), Routledge (2024), and Toho Journal (RIP, 2020). Their solo show, She Was A Conquistawhore, received the 2023 New BIPOC Performance Award from Cannonball and tours across the country. They’ve acted, built care practices, and provided research for theater companies across the region such as Die Cast, the Bearded Ladies Cabaret and the Wilma Theatre. Cat Ramirez (they/them) is a queer, mixed race, Philly-based performance director and producer who loves logistical puzzles, community meals, and bisexual lighting. Some of their favorite directing projects include She Was a Conquistawhore with Rachel O’Hanlon Rodriguez and Die Cast, Letters to the Moon and deciphering the knots in the pine beams with Mel Hsu, Half Magic with Joseph Ahmed, Meet Murasaki Shikibu with Tiny Dynamite (Barrymore nomination for Outstanding Direction), Young Americans with Theatre Horizon, and Space Opera with Obvious Agency. They have produced and developed programming for the Bearded Ladies Cabaret, Asian Arts Initiative, Philadelphia Asian Performing Artists, and Lightning Rod Special, and their writing has appeared in American Theatre Magazine. Cat is the Creative Producer and a worker-owner for Obvious Agency. They serve as a Board Member of the Stockton Rush Bartol Foundation. catramirez.com
