Am I safe as a woman in America? This is the physical representation of the women/women presenting persons' experiences in "the land of the free". Showing how we fight physically, mentally, socially, and politically. This piece strives to acknowledge these systemic problems that have been perpetuated for centuries; it demands the viewer to reflect on their personal experiences that cause one to scream, "What the FUCK?"
In the three sections, there is a clear fight and aggression throughout the movement to show the need to highlight these problems.
Codes is the examination of dress codes from childhood through adulthood. Society's rules have shown women/women presenting persons' are sexualized at every turn of life. Obedience was made in response to the overturning of Roe v. Wade. This precedent has caused women's healthcare to decline and shown that their rights have regressed to the point where it has become dangerous. Gut Feeling shares what many of us feel on a daily basis. Am I being followed? Is this person going to hurt me? Did I bring pepper spray with me? The surveillance of women has instilled fear and agitation leading to hyperawareness.
I'm not here to conform to the comforts of men.
