Philadelphia's Dancefusion and Moving Target will present a concert that promises to captivate and inspire, showcasing the artistry and versatility of both companies. Audiences can expect a dynamic interplay of historical and contemporary dance forms, weaving narratives that resonate deeply with themes of human experience.
Dancefusion will present Legendary choreographer, Anna Sokolow’s timeless work Lyric Suite. Anna Sokolow is known as one of the most dynamic and uncompromising choreographers of our times. She choreographed Lyric Suite in 1953, and it stands as one of her most enduring and celebrated works. Set to the music of Alban Berg's string quartet, this piece is a masterful exploration of abstract themes and human emotions through dance. It features a powerful combination of solos, a duet, and a women's quartet, making it both diverse in structure and profound in its expressive range. Dancefusion will also present Camille Halsey’s Three Parts Human choreographed on the Dancefusion company in 2018. Set to music of Max Richter, Ludovico, and Olafur Arnalds.
Moving Target will present two works choreographed by Artistic Director Christine Vilardo. Roots and Wings explores the movement legacy of Hellmut Gottschild and Zero Moving Dance Company to music: Changes 3: Palindromes by Paul Epstein. Her second work, Sirensong, explores the myth of the legendary sirens of the sea to music by percussionist Flossie Ierardi.
