Join us for excerpt readings of two new plays: Nick Jonczak's Trinity and Gum Preston's Natural Causes, members of this year's Text and Dramaturgy Cohort in partnership with Philadelphia Theatre Company!

Trinity by Nick Jonczak - full reading on Sunday, September 15th @ 5PM: Following the gnawing death of his mother, Charlie escapes into the hardscrabble desert of New Mexico to hunt for his father. Guided by a bizarre trio of hermits and haunted by the shame of growing up gay, Charlie leaves behind the safety of Los Alamos and enters a strange world of magic and beasts to learn what only the desert can teach him: letting go is fucking hard.

Natural Causes - full reading on Monday, September 15th @ 5:30PM (part of Visions): In the beginning, flies of all kinds had adapted to flee from shooing human hands. Then things changed. The air became different. Everything was rotting quicker. Hungry deaths caused changes to their internal equation, and fly-kind sees a thousand generations per annum. Their adaptation: Flies everywhere learned that food could be found wherever humans shooed away from.

And later in life, unlike those of us who remember the before, they say that they do not find the buzzing disturbing. Many find it comforting, but even more simply don't notice it. They don't seem to hear it at all. So these are our adaptations; in our own way we are learning too.

MORE ON OUR PARTNERSHIP WITH PTC: Fringe Festival artists are known for experimenting boldly with language, story and genre in their new works -- PTC Co-Artistic Directors Taibi Magar and Tyler Dobrowsky are known to be skilled new play developers, directors, and producers with a passion for risky, new work. We've teamed up to select five Cannonball artists to participate in a pilot Text and Dramaturgy Cohort led by Tyler and Taibi

With over 100 offerings – from rebellious circus, delicious dance, fearless theatre and activist art to workshops, parties, and more – Cannonball pushes the boundaries of live performance at four different venues this Fringe. Come as you are and stay past bedtime. Blaze your own trail at cannonballfestival.org.
