Life In Death follows Jamie, a once-studious teenager, is tormented by his parents' recent deaths, pushing him into a state of despair that finally leads to melancholy and violence. Lori, his aunt, takes him into care and attempts to restore him to his happy demeanor. Seven months have gone by, and he's becoming increasingly depressed; his grades are decreasing, and he's at his lowest point yet. Eventually, he meets Riley, who gradually pulls him out of his dreary mood and becomes his primary source of happiness, until Riley is diagnosed with leukemia, but he does not inform Jamie since their love is strengthening. Riley's condition deteriorates over months, and he attempts to conceal any visible indicators until, tragically, he passes away in his sleep. Jamie is devastated by this loss, but he does not lament and get into a state of sorrow; instead, he sees it as a new beginning in his recovery path.
