G(r)een: Inspired by the personal experience of coping with a speech impediment, G(r)een follows a brave child who loves nature, but struggles to describe it. This playful story encourages us all to accept ourselves as we are, and find unlikely friendships under the kitchen sink.
The Sunday 9/15 performance of G(r)een at 5 PM has been cancelled.
The Hags are Laura, Grace, and Tina: three artists who have come from NYC, Indiana, and Beijing to study at Pig Iron School. Shared enthusiasm for the Philadelphia art scene, devising theater, and young audiences brought them together. Between the three of them they've worked as elementary school teachers, translator and media correspondents, Shakespeare directors, playwrights, curriculum developers, Fringe producers, theater for youth with autism teaching artists, and much more. They're excited to infuse their own small piece of the fringe festival with curiosity, play, and bravery.
This summer they are joined by guest Hag, Jenavive Banes!
Jenavive Banes (she/her) is so excited to be a Hag this summer! In her 15 years as a theatre artist, some of her favorite memories with new works have been writing and producing her own original musicals; interning for composer David Austin on Beaches the Musical at the Drury Lane Theatre in Chicago; being a founding member of the Ball State New Musical Theatre Festival; performing in the inaugural casts of Broadway Beats and Rock Revolution for Carnival Cruise Lines; and collaborating with NYC writing teams on new musicals like Morbin' Time (RJ Christian and Cameron Reese), San (Gosz & Fotos), and Charlotte Lucas is 27 and Not Dead (Jessie Field and James Salem). Most recently, Jena collaborated with composer Finnegan Faye to co-create and arrange vocals for Catching Fireflies: A New Queer Musical which debuts Off-Broadway in January 2025. Jena is currently pursuing her master’s degree in social work from UPenn. Thanks so much to Laura, Tina, Grace and the whole G(r)een team for making me feel at home under the sink.
