A poem*:
Homo hunger
Thank you I studied Stalin
I wanna be the frat boys
They don’t wash their asses
Freekydeeky space dyke
You’re never too old to be the whore
Depression core
High camp and homosexuality
I want butch femme love to save me
And I want bottoming to heal me
My sex life is TikTok rage bait
I fucking love bridges
And I fucking hate when I’m told I’m being loved
When really I’m being controlled
Pleasure earned with pain past
This makes you my lesbian Jesus
A gay rapture
I need to talk to Gleep
Dear Sara,
When I’m on these streets sniffing out something exciting, I’m looking for you. When I walked into the theater I was immediately given a spiritual Wet Willy by a decked out, high femme, 5 Below freakout, Bb girl bedroom designed by Barbie on Timothy Leary’s finest microdot. This is great for me, because I love altered fun and ego dissolution. Enter Shirley, the princess of your drag dreams, a space dyke masquerading as a high femme humanoid here to hit every high note concerning some onerous material: hot hallway making out, love and limerence, the heartbreak horror of getting ghosted, and forced “turn on, tune in, drop out, (of school)” due to a shady-n-skanky university closing. Your musical reaches into the cosmic refrigerator, pulls out raw misery, butters it on both sides, eats it, and shits out pure joy. During the show I wonder if you’re going back to school to study queer performance. After the show I don’t want you to go back to school – you don’t need it. There is nothing anyone can teach you there that you can’t discover with your ladies in waiting, your brain, your insane voice (perspective and vocal talent), and your diary. Fuck school. Keep going in the direction you’re going in. Your show has me thinking about drugs and Merrill Nisker and the book Beautyland. If Judith Butler could snort a line of what you deliver, they would pay you to teach them everything you know. They can’t afford you.
P.S. Do you wanna hang out some time?
Love, Rose
