Since 2008, world-renowned dancer, drummer, and choreographer Anssumane Silla has led West African Dance classes on Sunday afternoons at Studio 34. Originally from Guinea-Bissau, Anssumane teaches traditional and contemporary dance styles—like Bijagos, Balanta, Fula, and Manjaco—accompanied by a cohort of drummers playing traditional African drums such as djembe, dundun, and kenkeni.
