What happens when a person risks it all on a hope and a dream? See this new retelling of the children’s classic “Jack and the Beanstalk.” See this magical tale told with puppets and music. An original script written by high school students will entertain children and adults alike.
When Jack’s mother realizes that their lives are near collapse, she sends her son off on an errand to save their livelihoods. His errand transforms into a journey. Jack, a trusting, hopeful boy, swaps their cow for three beans. Soon, a beanstalk beyond human proportion grows from the ground, reaching into an unfamiliar world. Jack struggles with the decision to climb into the unknown. Awaiting Jack are The Giant, a suffering landscape, and a riddle that may help everyone.
This retelling of “Jack and the Beanstalk” introduces new characters, a new way to think about strangers and strange lands, and our relationships to one another. Children and their adults will enjoy the puppets and songs, the magic and message.
